Description:
This long, curving peninsula provides interesting sailing areas both on the north and south shores. The eastern side is very inhospitable with no viable refuges.
The main ports on the southern side are Falmouth, Hyannis and South Yarmouth. On the northern and western coasts are the sheltered bays of Barnstable Harbor, Wellfleet Harbor, and at the northwestern tip of Cape Cod is Provincetown Harbor. This is the site of the historic landfall of the Mayflower and its excellent harbour is marked by the Pilgrim Monument.
Lying 30NM south of Cape Cod, are the islands forming the town of Nantucket; another popular holiday destination. Closer, just 5nm south from the southwestern tail of Cape Cod is Martha's Vinyard.
Position:
42° 04' N, 70° 25' W (entrance to Cape Cod Bay)

Rschattman1 is right…the fees for Provincetown Marina are quite high. We love to visit so take advantage of the adequate anchorage areas. One is just off the getty (comfortable in all wind directions except S and SW with good holding in sand). Another is on the southwest side of the Marina’s mooring field (not good for N or NE winds). Dinghy dock on shoreside of the fishing docks on east side; it is well marked.
Incredible town. Unfortunately, the moorings for transients and dockage rates are ridiculous. They increased dramatically in the past few years and we haven’t been back since. Its a shame but greed has found Provincetown.
