The main anchorage is at Saline Bay, but it can get busy here if a cruise ship is in. Anchor off the beach at the southern end - holding is good.
Moorings were re-installed in Saline Bay early 2022 by Patrick (Papa san) Forde after a complete inspection and upgrade.
Salt Whistle Bay, further to the north, is a beautiful anchorage with several beach bars and moorings for visiting boats. It is however popular with charter boats, so space is tight. The anchorage is in the northeastern part of the lagoon. This area is part of the Tobago Cays Marine Park and mooring/anchoring fees apply here. See the St. Vincent & the Grenadines Fees section for more information.
Be sure to double-check the strength of any mooring as failures have been reported in the past.
Over the years there have been a fair few outboard and dinghy thefts from boats in both bays on Mayreau. Be sure to lift your dinghy at night and secure it and the outboard to the boat at all times.
Cruisers should also practice a high degree of personal awareness and safety when ashore due to a recent assault reported to CSSN. Do not leave any items unattended on the beach or even on board at night.
See Security Reports the the latest information.
