Mersing - Docking

Jul 12, 2024

Anchoring and Mooring in Mersing:

The channel is well buoyed and has leading marks. It is advisable to assume the sandbanks dry at LAT.  Moor alongside the fishing boats and expect other vessels to tie up alongside you, so put out plenty of fenders.  The anchorage, in 5m, at the entrance to the river is subject to swell.

Offshore Islands:

Anchoring is not allowed within two nautical miles from shore in the Johor Islands. You will need to find either a mooring or a jetty.

See this report from Sail Malaysia with information on permit requirements for Malaysia's east coast marine park islands.
