Tikehau Atoll - Docking

It is important to float your chain to protect the coral, avoid the bommies and prevent future damage to marine life.  You will also save yourself the hassle of having to unwrap the chain.  Use a fender or old pearl farm float. See French Polynesia Yachting Essentials for tips on Navigation and Anchoring in this part of the world.

Marina/Dock:

There is a small protected marina inside of the breakwater (for a few boats). One French
cruising boat was tied to the new finger and a 60′ power boat was side tied to the inside wall

Most vessels anchor in sand in various locations to the East of the dock in front of the many pensions that line the beaches. Some pensions have docks and with their permission, you may anchor your dinghy nearby in such a way as to not obstruct the use of their docks.

Pass Anchorage:

15°00.349S / 148°16.355W.

Drop anchor in six meters of water in between bommies.  Nice spot, protected with a reef and easy access to the pass for snorkeling/diving.

Village Anchorage:

15°06.8862S / 148°14.2587W.

Anchor just to the east of the Quay in sand 25-30′.  There are widely scattered bommies and be sure to give the quay plenty of space as the supply ship may need room to manoeuvre.

Pearl Beach Resort Tikehau Pearl Anchorage:

15°06.129S / 148°11.835.

Drop the anchor in 2.4 meters of water in a beautiful sandy patch.

Warning. There are submerged power lines leading from Motu Tianoa (Pearl Beach Resort) running along the shore to Motu Haamea. Advised to anchor NE of Motu Tianoa to avoid dislodging the power line.
