Hao - Docking

Hao Docking for Yachts

The wide entrance to the lagoon is at the northern end of the atoll.

The old navy marina provides a very protected anchorage from any wind except from the northwest.  Can accommodate up to nine boats tied up to the concrete walls and more at anchor. No coral heads reported here. This is approx. a 1 mile walk from town (or a short ride in the dinghy).

Another good anchorage is by the pearl farm at Nake (18°24'S,140°40'W).

Anchoring off the town can be tricky as there are many coral heads.

See French Polynesia Yachting Essentials for tips on Navigation and Anchoring in this part of the world.

There are a number of small grocery stores here, each with varying supplies. Fresh produce is limited.
