Papeete's central market offers a range of goods from fresh vegetables and fish to tourist goods. Open Mon–Sat 0730-1800; Sun 0500-0900.
However, the Sunday market (get there early to avoid queues) has the best selection of food and produce. Closes at 0900 so locals can go to church.
There are several supermarkets around: Carrefour (the main one is HUGE and situated between the Maeva Beach anchorage and Marina Taina, the smaller one close to the Arue Yacht Club), Champion (there is one walking distance from Papeete Marina), Hyper-U (Pirae) and Master Price (opposite the main Continent).
Carrefour and Geant huge supermarkets are open 7 days/week. There is a Carrefour within easy walking distance of Marina Taina. Get a free token for a trolley at the customer service desk and you can take the trolley back to the marina if needed.
There is a Tahiti Pas Cher (like a UK Wilkos or small US Target) on the next road further inland from the Champion supermarket.
A small local shop across from the Cathedral in town sells eggs, bread, beer, wine etc. Sells food that you can't get in Champion.
Youn Youn is an excellent small Asian food shop (find it on Google maps) - close to the Bora Bora Lounge cafe/restaurant.

Laverie Du Pont de l’est in the Rue Paul Gaugin 1.
