Raivavae - Fees

Sep 22, 2024

Where is Raivavae?

Raivavae lies about 380NM SSE of Tahiti, just south of the tropic of Capricorn.  Cruisers rate it as one of the most beautiful islands in French Polynesia, certainly on a par with Bora Bora.  It is a mountainous island surrounded by a coral reef with a narrow, turquoise lagoon.

Entrance notes and cautions for Raivavae:

The passage through the reef is clearly buoyed and leads to a quay, where one can come alongside. As elsewhere in French Polynesia, passages through the lagoon are marked by beacons so it is easy to make one's way to the east of the main island to anchor off one of the many islets.

Note:  Yachts are only allowed to stay for three days (including arrival and departure day) and anchoring is only permitted outside the two main villages.  In case of bad weather, you may ask the Gendarmie to stay longer.

Position - passage entrance:

23°50.73'S, 147°40.30'W '
