Description:
The quiet town of Tazacorte is situated on the west side of La Palma and claims to be the warmest place on the island. Puerto de Tazacorte is the fishing port and has a long promenade, a black sand beach, narrow streets lined with colourful old houses and many bars and seafood restaurants.
Tazacorte village is about 1km away and is the main centre with a town hall, post office, shops and supermarket.
Owned by Puertos Canarios, this is a government-run port – https://puertoscanarios.es/
Entrance Notes and Cautions:
When closing with the harbor, beware of the extensive fish farms to the NW of the entrance.
On 19th September 2021, Cumbre Vieja volcano on the south of the Island, erupted. The volcano was declared extinct on December 25th December, 2021.
You must pre-book a berth via the Puerto Canarios website, or download their App to do the same. If you don’t pre-book, you won’t officially be allowed into the harbor. Yachts have already been turned away here (2022) for not booking in advance.
Go to Yachting Essentials for more details on how to book a berth, and be sure to call or e-mail prior to arrival to re-confirm your booking.
