A number of companies supply and refill LPG cylinders and it is also possible in Nassau to get Camping Gaz LPG bottles refilled. Call 242 445 4562. A propane truck will meet you and fill up your bottle.
Whilst tap water is technically safe to drink it can often be heavily chlorinated and most people use bottled water which is readily available and inexpensive. On the islands, only rainwater is collected.
Facilities are good in Nassau on New Providence, which has several marinas, chandlers and repair facilities. There are also good facilities in Freeport on Grand Bahama, Marsh Harbour area on Abaco, George Town on Great Exuma and Spanish Wells on Eleuthera. Marsh Harbor Boatyard is capable of handling up to 85 tons and 24.5′ beams and R&B boatyard in Spanish Wells is capable of handling up to 120 tons and 28' beam.
Budget on food being 50% more expensive in the Bahamas. Rum is cheap but all other alcohol is expensive. The outer islands are the most expensive, so pick your spot for major provisioning carefully. The best places for a big provision are Nassau, Georgetown and Marsh Harbour.
The Bahamas Government has a long history of not maintaining aids to navigation and this should not be expected to change. It is therefore very important not to just rely exclusively on GPS positions on chart plotters and not attempt to look at the water and go where the water looks deeper. Visual piloting must be used in the Bahamas and is more important than electronic navigation. The bottom is easily seen in most places with good light and weather conditions.
