I just used a mooring ball two weeks ago (1 Mar 2017) with my 62′ S/Y and it held fine with wind and current. There are a few different Moorings and I wasn’t sure which ones were belonging to the yacht club.

So I called them on the VHF and they instructed me that all the ones in front of the yacht club would hold me. Hard to get the eye as they are attached to the bottom of the ball, so you have to fish for it. We had to use our tender after losing a boathook.

I must correct the above statement about new moorings with SS chain at the Farmers Cay Yacht Club. That is not accurate. I rented a mooring in May of 2016 for my 34 ft sailboat, only to have it part and cast my boat adrift within 12 hours.

The rather small nylon mooring line parted from chafe, probably at the anchor and set me adrift, ball and all. An anchor alarm on my GPS saved me from being blown ashore. I cannot recommend any of these moorings.
