Anchoring

This bay offers excellent shelter. There is plenty of anchoring space in the bay and the marina dinghy dock is free of charge with security.

Marina

Moorings are sometimes available at the marina which has 20 slips including four alongside berths. Marina dockage fees do not include water or electricity – both are available on most berths (electricity charged at a daily rate and metered water).

Longer term dockage can be arranged at a discounted rate through the hotel marina reception.

Security

Dinghy, accessory thefts (fuel tank etc.) and security issues continue here.  Be sure to secure all your valuables as you would anywhere in the world and lift and lock your dinghy at night.  It is also advisable to securely lock hatches and do not leave anything in the cockpit or deck area if at all possible.

In the latest incident in Blue Lagoon, a thief stole items from a catamaran after entering through an unlocked hatch.  In another incident, thieves targeted a yacht on mooring, using tools to break into the vessel that was securely locked and brightly lit.  See Related Security Reports.

The last half of 2022 saw a noticeable increase in burglaries on yachts at various anchorages in St. Vincent & the Grenadines. The Caribbean Safety and Security Net reports that while it has not yet been confirmed, SVG Coast Guard agreed to perform patrols starting Friday December 2, 2022.

If you are a victim, please take five minutes to complete the CSSN online incident report, it’s quick, confidential and keeps our cruising community fully and factually  informed.

Ashore

There is a bus stop just outside the marina entrance with buses into Kingstown ($2EC any journey). Here there is an excellent Saturday morning market.

Posted on behalf of Jim Rolt:

At first sight, late in the afternoon, Blue Lagoon can look rather abandoned. There are several wrecks dotted around the edge of the lagoon, and the whole place has the general air of a building site.

However, on closer inspection and in business hours only, the marina is open and being refurbished.

It’s a small marina with a few pontoon berths which seem to contain mostly catamarans, but there are plenty of mooring buoys and space to anchor, the latter being free.

Diesel and petrol are available at the pontoon, as is water, which is charged by the tankful. Free wifi is available near to the pontoons/marina office.

There are a bar and a very small mini market, a sail loft, but no sign of the oft rumoured customs and immigration facility. There is also a restaurant and hotel which are currently undergoing refurbishment.

No gas (propane) here, but showers are available and you can use the dinghy pontoon without charge close outside the office.

Security appears good with uniformed guards on shore apparently 24/7. Entry between the lit port and starboard markers to the east is straightforward with a minimum of 2.6m when I crossed at half tide.
