Morocco Yachting Essentials

Electricity:

Voltage: 127/220 V
Frequency: 50 Hz

Water:

It is not safe to drink water from the taps. Bottled water is safe but should be bought from a reputable source. Some street vendors have been known to fill used bottles and then (often inexpertly) seal them again.

Fuel:

Note that fuel prices are slightly higher than in Europe. If heading to Morocco, Gibraltar is the cheapest place to refuel.

LPG:

Bottled gas is widely available, but refilling of bottles is virtually impossible. The better option is to buy a regulator to match the local bottles. Camping gaz is widely available.

Getting Work Done:

Repair facilities in the bigger ports are adequate and there are small boatyards in both Tangiers and Casablanca which have dealt with yachts in the past and carried out simple repairs.

It can be extremely difficult to obtain spares, even shackles of a particular size. However, SOREMAR and Espace Marina, close to the railway station in Casablanca have a wide range of marine spares.

Provisions:

Provisioning is good in all major ports and large towns all have big supermarkets, although imported goods are expensive. The fresh produce markets are excellent everywhere.

Caretaking:

In some ports men calling themselves "shipkeepers" offer their services. They will deal with everything and also ensure that nothing is stolen off the yacht.

Marina Reservations:

Most marinas and yacht service companies communicate using WhatsApp. You will get a response this way - communicating by e-mail is not common.
