Yacht delivery Canaries to Mallorca March 2019; ran into Safi as we broke a shackle that held the jib sheet to the jib clew; no problems entering port, customs/police/immigration very friendly and helpful; we rafted up to a fishing boat, and the crew happily handed over 2 shackles for us, which were perfect. We were in and our under 2 hours; there is a Total fuel dock, but we did not see the need to fill up.

Safi si a extremely dirty port. But offers great shelter. We had decided to avoid al jadida due to the large swell. We called on channel 16 and we’re directed to channel 12. We moored underneath the control tower. Access is restricted to the boat area by a locked gate, so it seemed quite safe. A couple of packs of cigarettes to the guard… A guide called abdul offered his services right by our mooring. We were very reluctant but decided to follow him around. He proved to be an excellent option. He was very discreet and he kept anyone willing to bother away. Half way through the day we asked him to leave us on our own in order to inspect the area by ourselves and we realised we had made a big mistake. By the time we got back, Boat was intact and we were not charged anything for our stay (maybe Abdul helped on this) good place to buy pottery and have a walk around. Beware of scam fish restaurants by the sea.
