COVID-19: OPEN PORT
- See Biosecurity for details of the latest yachting protocols.
Description:
Safi is a large phosphate terminal, but has a nice, clean city with a fascinating medina and popular “potters quarter”.
Although there are no facilities for yachts, spares for fishing boats are available.
Position:
32° 18.87’N, 09° 15.48’W (port entrance)
Clearance
For full details on clearing into and out of Morocco see Noonsite’s Morocco Formalities.
Safi is a large commercial port and fishing harbour. Port control (CH 16) maintains 24 hour radio watch and will direct yachts where to berth for clearance (likely alongside another vessel).
Customs, police and immigration will come to the yacht; formalities are reported to be straightforward and officials courteous and efficient.
Docking
Safi has no marina, no facilities (water or electric), and berthing in the main port (most likely alongside a commercial vessel or fishing boat) will cost approximately double the rate of other Moroccan Marinas.
Although there is a controlled port gate and passes are needed by yacht crew to come and go, entrance is widely granted as people go to the fishing port. Security is therefore not as good as it may seem.
There is a Total fuel dock here.
It is not recommended to leave your boat unattended here.

YachtFlags.com offers a discount to Noonsite members.
YachtFlags.com provides high quality courtesy flags that are manufactured in durable Knitted Polyester fabric. Knitted so that the fabric itself does not deteriorate in the constant movement that marine flags are usually exposed to, and polyester so that the flag does not weaken in the strong UV-light usually found in the main sailing areas of the world.
