Description:

Sandakan is a busy port on Borneo's northeast coast. It lies at the head of a wide bay facing the Coral Sea. It is a pleasant town which was rebuilt after being destroyed in World War II.

Current Foreign Government safety advice is for yachtsmen to beware of sailing off the East coast of Sabah as they are at risk of being targeted by terrorists. Check the U.K. FCO website
