Apataki - Boatyards

May 13, 2025

If you are looking for somewhere unique to haul your boat, try Apataki Carenage in the south of the Atoll. This is a boatyard for cruisers doing their own work, not for expert advice and services.  They offer haulout, hard standing and can provide assistance with technical jobs. The Lau family who runs the yard are said to be very friendly and Pauline Lau speaks fluent English. Whilst the situation is remote, the location is beautiful and this is a good place to head to if you do your own work.

Cruisers recommend being vigilant during haulout to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Moorings while waiting for haulout are free, however, you won't be able to use yard electricity etc. until you are actually hauled out. Be prepared for 5’ seas if the wind is in the NW. In these conditions, an additional anchor may also be required.

See Cruisers reports for more information.
