Knysna - Docking

Nov 25, 2024

It is important to get advice on whether it is safe to enter if there is any amount of swell running.  In emergencies, the local NSRI (National Sea Rescue Institute) can be contacted on 044384 0211 or cell phone 0833246558.  There is no "manned" radio base in operation at the Kynsna Yacht Club (KYC).

Once inside the heads the lagoon has buoys marking the channel to the Yacht Club.  See Knysna Heads, Entry and Estuary Notes from the Yacht Club for more detailed information.

Mooring:

Visiting yachts are most welcome at the Yacht Club.  For enquiries about KYC facilities, alongside docking and swing moorings, contact the KYC Manager at 044 382 5724 or by email to manager@knysnayachtclub.com

Mooring in front of the Yacht Club is available for three days to take on water and fuel.   There are also swing moorings, when available.

Ashore:

The Yacht Club has good facilities and the first week's membership at the club is free and a modest charge thereafter.

Several yachts have wintered here in recent times and report that onshore there are a variety of restaurants, shops, hotels, grocery stores, produce markets all within walking distance from the marina.
