Airports
Cape Town International Airport is 15km east of the city centre (up to the N2)
Cape Town International Airport is 20 km East of the city centre. Tourist information and internet are available at both domestic and international terminals.
Buses
There are two major bus services in and around Cape Town:
There is an informal mini-bus service run by locals. Do check on where they are going as they might be going to areas that tourists are advised to stay clear of.
Car Rental
If spending time in Cape Town, car hire is advisable - get quotes. You will need prepaid parking cards (available from small shops locally (cafes).
Taxis
Minibus taxis run all over the city and can be hailed simply by putting up an arm. There are standard taxis with the biggest stop at the Adderley Street end of Grand Parade. There are also “Rekki” which are a cross between taxis and a shared taxi and are tiny mini-vans. They travel within a 5 km radius of the city centre.
Also, download the Uber app while in Cape Town. A very cheap and safe option.
Train
Blue Train to Pretoria and Johannesburg uses a line that runs up to Paarl.
