Subic Bay - Clearance

Jun 30, 2023

This is an Official Port of Entry.

For full details on clearing into and out of the country see Philippines Formalities.

General Process:

It is not an easy process to enter here according to a recent cruiser report and you need permission beforehand which requires sending in all your paperwork early to either the marina/yacht club or your agent if using one.

The Subic Bay Yacht Club, or the boatyard you are using, can act as an agent.  An independent agent to clear you in/out is George de Leon, +63 915 137 7836, subicyachtserv.george@gmail.com

On arrival yachts are required to wait at the quarantine anchorage in the bay to be processed by Quarantine, Customs, Coast Guard and the Subic Bay Management Authority Seaport.

If the Port Authority are not aware of your request, contact the General Manager of the Subic Bay Yacht Club and he may be able to help.  Quarantine, Customs and Immigration officials will undertake clearance procedures at the marina.

Unexpected Fees:

Whilst officially there should be no clearance charges for the Philippines, in practice many ports do charge and this is one of them. Be warned that clearance fees here are high.

If coming from the South it may be better to clear in at Puerto Princessa, for example, where no fees are charged.

Cruisers report being charged US$300to clear in/out.

Note that if you have been at anchor in the harbor, on clearing out you may be charged a daily Harbor Cleaning Fee (US$10 per day) plus USD60 pilotage. This fee is not charged to boats that berth at the Subic Bay Yacht Club.

Visa extensions:

It is now possible to get visa extensions here at either Olongapo or at the One Stop Shop in Subic Bay Freeport Zone. Remember you only get a 30-day visa on arrival. This avoids having to travel to Manila. Take cash as credit card facilities are not available. Be prepared to pay the 'express renewal fee' of USD20 per visa. Unlike other visa offices in the Philippines there is no option for the three day visa renewal in Subic Bay or Olongapo. Read this report for more details.
