We arrived in very strong weather and seas (gusting to mid-40kts and waves around 10ft) but the entry was fine and protected by the breakwater. The port captain was already on the dock watching us and answered the radio immediately (he has a big screen with AIS in his office). He directed us to anchor in the harbour where we had excellent holding in the mud. We were charged 260MAD for a 14m catamaran, so much cheaper than almost everywhere in Morocco (except the very cheap, new marina in Tangiers).

It is a rather dirty, fishy-smelling port but a wonderful place to escape the weather. We were processed by the port captain in about 30 minutes and he called the police and told us he’d radio when they arrived (we went back to the boat and showered and dried off). The police were also very pleasant and efficient – we cleared in and when we said we would leave at 8 am the next day, they were happy for us to stop back in the evening and get stamped out, so they didn’t have to show up in the morning. There didn’t appear to be a customs office or representative here.

Visited El Jadida in November 2016: VHF Chat with the port captain about draft of the boat, we were two boats with 1.5m and 2m draft and were guided to anchor inside of the port right behind the entrance at 5m depth. If nobody responds on the VHF (the port captain actually called us up since he saw us on the AIS) I would recommend to anchor just right behind the breakwater and not too far in, since part of the harbour falls dry. Dinghy can be left at the Clubs pontoon without a problem.

Customs clearance/police/immigrations officers speak mostly French and little English. Filling out forms about crew and boat is done three times and takes some time. Customs staff came aboard and just asked the usual questions about firearms, alcohol and cigarettes. No boat searching or anything, alcohol did not have to be locked away, it was accepted in reasonable amounts
