Puerto Vallarta/ Banderas Bay - Docking

Oct 25, 2023

Anchoring:

Anchoring is reported to be permitted inside the Puerto Vallarta harbour, off the creek mouth but this is a crowded area. Anchorage can be found in other parts of the bay--specifically Punta Mita in the north-west hook of the bay, La Cruz and Yelapa on the southern side of the bay.

Note: Anchoring is no longer permitted at Los Arcos or Isla Marietas.

Marinas

There are three marinas in the planned resort community of Nuevo Vallarta (NV) which is just north of Puerto Vallarta. The marinas are located in dredged canals and are set between resorts. The area is known for its golf courses and the long, sandy Nuevo Vallarta beach.

The Puerto Vallarta (PV) marinas are located in the man-made harbour past the cruise ship docks. The marinas are surrounded by shops and hotels and the central location offers easy access to a variety of services.

Crocodiles have been spotted in both NV and PV.
