It lies between Cancun and Playa del Carmen and is a pleasant stop on the way to Isla Mujeres.
Entrance Notes and Cautions:
There is a clearly marked channel through the reef to the ferry dock area and the town quay, which is 0.8 km (half a mile) north of the dock.

Docking
Anchoring:
The area of the town, once used for anchoring, is now part of a marine park and no anchoring is allowed. There are no longer any mooring balls available either, so the marina is the only option here for docking.
Anchoring and fishing are prohibited.
You can leave your dinghy on the dock of the local restaurant – Los Pellicanos.
Marinas:
The entrance to the marina is 0.8 kms (half a mile) SW of the centre of the town and is well marked.
El Cid Marina is reported to be very secure and is a popular place to leave a boat when traveling inland. The marina is part of an all-inclusive resort and so visiting berth holders can use the facilities which include a number of pools, a spa and several restaurants.
The town of Puerto Morelos is just a short walk from the marina.
