Mexico - Timezone

Mexico uses four time zones. Most of the country uses Central Standard which is officially named Zona Centro or Central Zone. Daylight Saving Time begins at 02:00  local time on the first Sunday in April. On the last Sunday in October areas on Daylight Saving Time fall back to Standard Time at 02:00 except in municipalities which share a border with the United States; their daylight saving time start three weeks earlier on the second Sunday in March and ends on the first Sunday in November.

The states of Sonora and Quintana Roo do not observe Daylight Saving Time.

  • Pacific Standard Time or Zona Noroeste UTC (-8): Baja California Norte.
  • Mountain Time or Zona Noroeste UTC (-7): Chihuahua, Nayarit, Sonora, Sinaloa and Baja California Sur.
  • Central Zone or Zona Centro UTC (-6): Central and most of the eastern parts of the country, including its capital Mexico City.
  • Eastern Standard Time or Zona Sureste UTC (-5): Quintana Roo.
