Kuching is the capital of the Sarawak province of Malaysia on the island of Borneo. The city is situated on the Sarawak River and is worth visiting for the old buildings and museums.
Previously, yachts could go up the river to Kuching and anchor right in the middle of town but there are two causeway bridges now - one has a reported height of 17m+ at low water and the other (at position 01°33.3'.2N, 110°22.42'E ) has a reported clearance of 12m so it may not be possible to go all the way. There is an anchorage 4NM from the river mouth in front of the Kampung Sejingcat village or at Santubong.
There is an excellent museum in the city with such unusual items as shrunken heads and a monster crocodile. Many supermarkets and places to provisions as well as alcohol. The Chinese quarter has lots of great restaurants.
01° 33.5' N, 110° 24.3' E (marina).
