Rovodrau Bay is not a known anchorage as generally strong winds funnel between the mainland and Beqa Lagoon.

The Pearl Resort is an upscale resort with a newly built secure, yet small, marina. The berths are located in sheltered waters in a small river inlet.

The Channel leading to the marina is easily spotted. Follow the break wall into the river inlet. Just past the break wall, the marina is immediately on the starboard side (see photo below).

The main town center is called the Arts Factory area, which is approximately a 15-minute walk to the east.

    Data Entry1 says:

Reported by Yacht Elyse, June 2018:

We have just stayed a few days at the new marina outside the Pearl Resort, Pacific Harbour, Coral Coast, Fiji: 18 15 S, 178 04 E

The marina is quite small and only has space for a few boats. Elyse is 17m overall but they quite happily tied us up to a 10m pontoon!

Elyse draws 2.05m, so we had to enter on high tide. Tidal range here is about 1.5m and at low tide, we had 0.8m under the keel, so not much margin for error.

The marina has a locked gate between it and the resort, they give you a code to enter the marina. When you pay for the berth you are free to use the hotel facilities which includes 3 restaurants and bars, pool, toilet facilities, but no showers that we saw. It’s not like a full-scale marina with all facilities. There are no repair facilities for example.

We reserved in advance- this is necessary as there is limited space. The cost was F$50 per night including water. Each berth has a pedestal with 16 and/or 32 Amp power (230V 50Hz) which is metered and you pay for what you use.

There is WiFi but it’s not free. Our preference in Fiji is to get a data-only SIM card for the phone – you pay only about F$30 for 15 gigabytes which lasts a month.

It’s a 15-minute walk or F$3 taxi ride to the Arts Village on Hibiscus Drive, where there are cafes, restaurants, a quite well-stocked supermarket, bottle shop, service station and a myriad of small boutiques. We ate at the Baka Blues Cafe in the village. The food was excellent, great service and not very expensive. Nice atmosphere with blues music in the background.
