There are two fuel stations, but no fuel dock, so fuel must be bought in jerrycans or ordered in barrels to a well built and safe customs dock. See the comments section (speech bubble icon) for an August 2023 update from a visiting yacht.
A tax-free form for fuel can be acquired from customs in the harbour area. You must take at least 200 litres of fuel to qualify. The process is easy upon checking out (just one simple form). Fees do not apply.
Fuel can be ordered in the Pacific Energy main office. The office is located east of the town above the harbour area and close to the three big tanks that can be seen from the water. A taxi ride is 200 vatu one way. You can only buy quantities in 200-litre batches.
To receive your fuel you will have to tie to the dock just below the storage tanks. The dock is made of rough concrete and steel. It is very rolly in trade wind conditions. Make sure to deploy many sturdy fenders. Fuel will be hand-pumped from a barrel to your boat with a hose that may not be long enough to reach your fuel port. In this case, jerry cans are used to bridge the gap.
