Suriname - Money

Nov 04, 2024

Suriname dollar (SRD) of 100 cents.

It should be noted that cash is king in Suriname and foreign debit/credit cards are not accepted, except to withdraw cash at an ATM - although these don't always work or indeed have any cash to offer.

Everything needs to be paid in cash here, either in local currency, Euro or US$. Arrive with plenty to save you the hassle of hunting for an ATM that will give you money.

The ATMs in Suriname issue Suriname Dollars, American dollars and Euros.

Foreign currency can be changed in all banks. It is no longer necessary to declare foreign currency on arrival.
