Taxis, buses or rental cars are available for exploring Saint Lucia.
Rental Cars:
There is a car rental office in the marina. If using another car hire company, be aware that they will make a delivery charge to bring it to the marina.
Rush hour in and around Castries is from 07:15 - 08:15 and 15:30 - 18:00. Driving through Castries at this time is very slow.
Buses:
Local buses can be used to get pretty much anywhere on the island, at very little cost. They have a green "M" registration plates. Bus "Route 1A" passes outside the marina gates to Castries. This bus can also be used for a quick trip to JQ's Mall. The JQ bus stop is also a convenient jumping off point for all the bars and restaurants beyond the Mall on Reduit Road.
Taxis:
If needing a taxi, it's recommended you use a licensed operator, these are denoted by red "TX" license plates. Agree on the fare to your destination before departing. There is a taxi stand at the marina. (Tel 719 9877)
Water taxis are an easy way to reach the beach, adjacent bars and restaurants or to reach yachts at anchor. Most are on VHF Ch 16, but are also usually found on the main pontoon in Rodney Bay Marina. They also offer sightseeing trips to Marigot Bay, Soufriere, Pigeon Island and sunset cruises.

Airports:
George Charles Airport (code SLU) for local flights and inter-island travel (Vigie Cove). Local flights between Caribbean islands are frequent, and generally operate from this airport, located in Castries (about 25 minutes from Rodney Bay Marina). Airlines serving this airport include Inter Caribbean Airways, Air Caraibes, Caribbean Airlines, SVG Air and Air Antilles.
Hewanorra International Airport (code UVF) is at the south end of the island at Vieux Fort with direct flights to the UK and a number of US cities. Airlines serving this airport include BA, Air France, Air Canada, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, US Airways and Jet Blue. The airport is 80 kms (50 miles) and 90 minutes by taxi from Rodney Bay Marina. Expect to pay US$85 one way (up to 3 passengers). For 4 people or more, US$25 per person. Many cruising boats stopover at Vieux Fort anchorage, close to the airport, to drop off and pick up crew. Be sure to secure your boat carefully if leaving it at anchor here.
Helicopters:
A quick way to get to Martinique. Helicopters are no longer allowed to land at the marina, so travelling to Hewanorra International Airport in the south means departing from George Charles airport in the north. With clearances, it will take about the same time as getting a taxi from the marina.
Ferries:
There is a daily high-speed catamaran service between Saint Lucia, Martinique, Guadeloupe and Dominica, operated by Express Des Iles.
