We used Komiza as an entry port and would encourage others to consider Vis Harbour or other ports of entry. When we arrived at 2300 hours, fishing boats were using the customs part of the pier (seaward end of the pier). As such, we went to anchor outside the bay in 25kt winds, good holding in approx. 10m. As soon as fishing boats left at 0300 we proceeded to tie up at the Customs Dock. Called Customs (Policier) who arrived and cleared us by 0400 and advised to see the Port Captain at 0800 hours as well as Customs and that we could remain on the dock until such time.

Proceeded to the Port Captain at 0800 as instructed then learned we did not need to see Customs. Upon leaving the Port Captain the Port Authority seized our yacht papers and charged us 515 KN for moorage charges. We pleaded our case regarding a need to clear customs and visit Port Captain. Port Authority was not flexible and said “Bad luck, too bad”. Hence, consider avoiding Komiza. Much much more pleasant experience clearing from Cavtat exiting Croatia.
