Cartagena - Boatyards

Jun 16, 2025

Club Nautico provide a comprehensive "Guide for Cruisers" which contains lots of useful marine and trade contacts for Cartagena.

For hauling out there are two common and good choices. Ferroalquimar (300-ton travel lift and 35 ft wide bay) plus Manzanillo Marina Club (smaller but family run and flexible).

Also, there is a new yard called Marina Portobello. Unfortunately the approaching depths are 7 ft or less but there are plans to dredge. The travel lift bay is wide enough to accommodate a 70 ft catamaran. The travel lift itself is approx. 120 tonnes. Long term storage not possible and no overnighting on board.

Larger yachts may be able to use the facilities at the Naval Yard.

See Boatyard recommendations from cruisers in this report.

Coming down the Coast there is also Puerto Velero to consider (just South West of the Magdalena river mouth) for hauling and storage. Reasonably close to the aptly names sandy city of Barranquilla (la ciudad Arenosa).
