Puerto Williams - Docking

Apr 13, 2024

Anchoring in Puerto Williams:

Cruising boats are usually told to anchor near the airport, but north of the red mooring buoy if a quarantine may be required, or to proceed directly into the small western basin (Seno Lauta), south of the airport.  Anchorage is good on sand and mud.

Mooring Options in Puerto Williams:

Boats must have permission from the Port Captain to anchor in Seno Lauta. The anchorage offers good holding, but is exposed to both easterly and westerly winds. Anchoring here is free. Mooring buoys are also available. The most pleasant, and safest berths are at the Club Naval de Yates Micalvi - a former supply ship which is now used as a yacht club - with limited facilities. It is based in a small inlet at the western end of the harbour. Yachts moor alongside the ship which is grounded at Seno Lauta to serve as a pontoon. Yacht club facilities (such as showers, bathroom, electricity and Club House) are located in this historical ship. The cleaning of the facilities are now the responsiblity of the users and there is no longer a bar service (therefore no Wi-fi). See Communications for info. on Wifi services available. Mooring is also possible at the fishermen’s terminal (Termino Pesquero), which has protected berths, a travel lift, and some hard storage space available for yachts. Fuel can be taken by tanker truck at this pier. Last updated: April 2024
