Puerto Williams - Boatyards

Apr 13, 2024

A 35-tonne travelift is available at the fishermen's terminal. If the boat will be removed from the slings and set on the hard, the boat must provide timber to serve as stands, though the yard may have a keel block available. Some local technicians to include welders and divers are available, and materials as well as complex machining are available in Punta Arenas for shipment to Puerto Williams. Some work may require taking the boat to Ushuaia or Punta Arenas. Local Armada technicians have historically been willing to help yachtsmen with repairs as well, and they do have a basic machine shop. Sail specific hardware will have to be imported or shipped from the Santiago area in most cases.

FabLab Austral is a maker shop located near the community hospital that has CNC capabilities for cutting wood as well as 3D printers for plastics and some other tools which may be of use in effecting repairs and vessel improvements.
