Tortola now has a world-class entertainment center (down Main Street) – 5 screen movie theater with extra-wide, slightly-reclining seats, a bowling alley, sports bar, takeaway food and organic food. Worth it if only for the air-conditioning.

National Parks Trust Office

Norman Island

Made famous by John Louis Stevenson’s classic pirate tale Treasure Island, is best known for its geological formations known as “The Caves.” A highly photographed snorkeling site, schools of colorful fish literally swim right along with you while exploring the three caves with interesting coral and mineral formations. In the large bay called the Bight, are moorings for boats and a unique floating restaurant, The Willy T’s, fashioned from an old schooner as well as a pirate-themed restaurant ashore.

Sage Mountain National Park

Ridge Road

A tropical forest located at 1716 feet, the park has lush foliage including giant elephant ears, luxuriant ferns, gravelled pathways and picnic areas.

Shark Bay National Park
Above Brewer’s Bay, Tortola, BVI

Visitors to this park, on the eastern hill above Brewer’s Bay, will enjoy a short nature walk, fabulous views and a lookout.

The Indians – Off Norman Island

Whether scuba diving or snorkelling, the Indians are a favourite for all ages and abilities! This marvellously unique rock formation, looms out of the water from a depth of approximately 10ft to 50ft and features a tunnel, which divers (with scuba equipment) may pass through to the other side. There is a spectacular variety of corals at the Indians as well as an abundance of reef fish.

The Wreck of the R.M.S. Rhone – Salt Island

Certainly the most popular and well known of all BVI dive sites, the Royal Mail Steamer “Rhone” was the setting for the hit movie “The Deep”, starring Nick Nolte and Jacqueline Bissett. The wreck itself is fascinating to explore with parts of her still intact. The Rhone foundered during a hurricane and is lying in depths from 20 to 80 feet. She is colorfully decorated by a wide variety of corals and is home to several resident barracuda, sea turtles, stingrays, angelfish, yellowtail snappers and many other varieties of fish life visit the Rhone. This is a “must see” for all levels of scuba divers!

Propane Fill at Delta Petroleum — Be advised that Delta Petroleum does not charge by the metered gallon of propane, but by the fill, so best take an empty tank. They are very friendly and accommodating. Fill you dinghy fuel tank at the same time! George

Re the comment above, substitute Wickhams Cay 2 for Marina Cay. We found Delta Petroleum but they did not have an adaptor to fill our Camping Gaz cylinder. However we then found out about Express Gass. You just call Thomas on 1-284-494-3766 or 443-1464 or 543-2401. He will pickup/dropoff anywhere in Road Harbour for $5 or Nanny Cay for $15 and will supply propane or butane. We had ours back in a couple of hours and very friendly service.

If you need propane, make your way from Marina Cay along the main highway towards the airport. About a third of a mile, and directly across from the Cash & Carry and Riteway stores is Delta Petroleum.

They fill on site from the back of the store on the corner of the building closest to the water. We filled a 20lb bottle on March 5th, 2014, for a cost of $25, and the attendant did it right away.
