Airports

Deputado Luis Eduardo Magalhaes

The airport is about 30 km from the city center with buses running every hour from the center of the city. Whilst it is an international airport the majority of flights are internal.

Airlines

TAP (Air Portugal) Tel: +55 071 32041531 (Airport office)

TAP offers the only direct flights to Europe. All other flights go via Rio or Sao Paulo

Buses

Buses from Marina to Customs and the Port Captain's office. Good coach connections to the rest of the country from Rodoviario. There are two main city bus terminals in the center that can serve as destinations or transfer points: Terminal da França in the Comércio and Lapa, behind Shopping Lapa and Piedade. Long distance buses in Brazil are comfortable, reliable and good value, however, the air conditioning runs very cold. In Salvador, board buses at the rear, exit at the front.

Car Rental

Many companies at the airport or if you ask at the marina office they have local numbers. Loja Comacari Posto ABB (Hertz), Rua Eteno 2406, Tel: +55 071 3632 8567

Avis – Salvador: 2456 Av. Presidente Vargas, Tel: +55 071 203 2770

Taxis

Taxis are a must here, especially after dark. They are convenient and quite cheap. Many taxis abound, make sure that they have meters or you have arranged a fee before setting off. Salvador taxis are notorious for having faulty meters.

Train

Brazil is a country with limited train services and no long distance network.

Water Taxis

While there are no dedicated water taxis there is a ferry service from Salvador to the island Baia De Todos os Santos.
