Belize City - Transport & Travel

Apr 04, 2018

Many roads are still unpaved, so getting around by car can be uncomfortable, even in the dry season.

Tropic Air and Maya Airways operate scheduled internal flights and several American airlines have international services from Philip Goldson International Airport.

Public buses are an economical way of getting around, although it is likely to take longer than expected as the buses stop on demand and are rather cramped. The express coaches used on some northern routes are faster and more comfortable. Departures from Belize City cover most of the major towns (Corozal, Orange Walk, San Ignacio, Belmopan, Dangriga, Punta Gorda), as well as border towns in Mexico and Guatemala.

Water taxis make scheduled runs to Caye Caulker, San Pedro every day from 9 am and twice-weekly services to Placencia. They leave from the Marine Terminal, next to the swing bridge.
