Clearance
For full details on clearing into and out of Belize see Belize Formalities.
This port is a check-in/out option in the south of Belize and easy as all the authorities are in one building by the dinghy dock. It is however an open roadstead anchorage so should only be used in settled weather with a crew member left on board.
Placencia offers a more sheltered anchorage.
All of the offices for clearance are centrally located in one building. This is a white block building with “Welcome to Belize”, easily seen from the anchorage with a concrete pier.
The Immigration office here is the place to check out before continuing on to the Rio Dulce.
Notes:
- It has been reported that if you clear in or out here between 12:00 and 13:00, you will be charged overtime rates.
- The only charges you should be paying are to Agriculture, Port Captain and for a departure zarpe. See Fees for more details.
