Visit the Vanuatu Tourism Events & Festivals Calendar for information on current events.

The following list of festivals and events has been recommended to Noonsite by cruisers. They may not all happen annually.  Other event information is provided by Vanuatu Tourism.

April:

Naghol or Land Diving - Pentecost Island - every Saturday from April to June.  This awe-inspiring ancient tradition is the role model for modern bungee jumping.

Vanuatu Tourism have developed a new itinerary especially for the month of April to June Nagol season. The itinerary is developed based on existing tours and activities in respective Islands to fully extend the Penama experience. Pacific Circuit Rally (NZ, Tonga, Fiji, Vanuatu, Loyalty Islands, New Caledonia, NZ), run by Island Cruising NZ.

June:

Fête de la Musique, Port Vila & Luganville (FOC).

Slow food festival scheduled for the 10th of June at Kaiovo, North Maewo

July:

Ruan Cultural Festival (Our Way), Nobul, North Ambrym - first week of July, featuring initiation rites, mask dances, traditional dances, and more.

Big Bay Cultural Festival - Espiritu Santo

Fanla Rom Dance Black Magic Festival.  Fanla Village (oldest village in Ambrym).

Maskelynes Canoe Race and Festival.  Peskarus Village, Maskelynes, South Malekula

August:

Emae Island, a charming island in Vanuatu's Shepherd Group, is hosting a Slow Food festival from August 26 - 29th, 2024. This event celebrates local cuisine and traditions. Food preparation demonstrations and tastings will showcase the culinary skills and techniques from various Vanuatu provinces. The Vanuatu Cultural Centre is the main point of contact for the festival.

Nalawan Festival, MalekulaFeatures the best of the South West Bay (SWB) community of Malekula Island.  Download the 2024 Festival Brochure.

South Malekula Arts & Cultural Festival (10th Anniversary 2019): Over two days witness a pig exchange ceremony, traditional and contemporary skill displays, custom dancing, and story-telling. For more information contact George (anglophone) +678 543 5436 or Joseph (francophone) +678 590 1180,

Port Sandwich Art and Culture Festival.  Malekula Island. Now called the Lamap Festival.

Pentecost to Ambrym Yacht Race: For all boats sailing north. Organized by two Chiefs with prizes and some amazing cultural activities happening alongside.

Back to Roots Festival - Olal Village, North Ambrym.

The Lakona Bay Kastom Festival

Toka Dance, Tanna Island.

September:

Arts Festival & Island Yam Festival, Vureas Bay, SW side of Vanua Lava, Banks Group.

Rah Island Canoe Race, yachties welcome.

October:

Volcano Run - a new, annual running race that will take place on a different volcano each year.

November:

Saint Andrew Festival, Banks Region.

Christian festival infused with local indigenous traditions.

A three-day event featuring food cooked by geothermal energy. Held every November 29.
