El Djem is an atmospheric amphitheater that's considered to be the most impressive Roman monument in North Africa. You can visit the chambers underneath the middle of the arena that once held the gladiators and animals.

Hergla, around 15km north of Port El Kantaoui. This is a little sleepy village perched on a cliff and where life has changed little. Local inhabitants sit on their doorsteps of the small winding streets weaving filters - used in the pressing of olives to make olive oil - from a local grass. A fishing harbor has been recently built with whitewashed houses and topped by a Mosque.

Sousse international festival (July-August).

In Sousse, the medina and some of the most perfectly preserved Roman mosaics you'll ever see.
