Alvor - Docking

Apr 25, 2017

Well sheltered once inside. Night entry or in strong onshore winds not advisable. Accessible for drafts up to 2.3m.

There are two possible anchorages here after the lagoon entrance.

One, to port, just inside the moles which protect the entrance. The other at the end of the winding channel leading to the town.

It might also be possible to use one of the buoys laid here - speak with the fishermen.

It is best to enter on a rising tide when the sandbanks are still visible but mistakes can be rectified.

The town can provide most needs; provisions, banks, bars and restaurants. The much larger town of Portimao is only 5km away.
