Read Panama Formalities for detailed information on procedures for clearing into and out of Panama.

Pedregal has facilities for clearance.

For yachts that don’t want to go all the way up-river for clearance (and it’s advisable not too, it’s possible to anchor by Boca Chica, call 7211232 or 64869154 and organize the arrival of the authorities before stepping on land.

Carlos at the marina (phone/WhatsApp +507 660 6191) can also act as an agent and do this on your behalf.

The fee is fixed and reported to be US$125 to clear in at Pedregal. This can be avoided by clearing in at places like Flamenco.

Extended processing times are reported and it takes several days to obtain a cruising permit.

Checking out is simpler and without a mandatory extra fee as the captain can travel with all the documents to Pedregal without the crew and do all the paperwork.

On departure from Pedregal expect to pay US$25 for inspection of the boat and an anchoring fee and light dues (approx. US$20). An International Zarpe costs approx. US$13.
