Docking
Marinas
Linton Bay Marina was new in 2015 and is tucked in behind Isla Linton offering clearance services, sheltered berthing and well-equipped boatyard services. There are mooring balls and slips available and both catamarans and monohulls can be hauled here with the 160 tonne travelift.
Yachts at anchor are permitted to use the facilities at the Linton Bay Marina, including the dinghy dock, however, there is a $3 per day charge to do so (or $ 30 per month). If you just come for a drink on the floating bar, the dinghy dock is free.
Moorings
Panamarina is located towards Isla Grande and 2nm west of Isla Linton (Puerto Lindo). While this is called a marina, there are no docks, just mooring buoys. In the entrance channel and at the moorings depths vary from 2 to 4 m.Once inside the anchorage there are two “stand-by” mooring buoys (painted white) in the middle. Call the marina on VHF 69 and a tender will come and assist (Monday-Sat 08:00-12:00 and 14:00 to 17:00. No assistance is provided on Sundays and outside of opening hours. Panamarina has a long-term storage boatyard and it tends to be used by cruisers who are leaving their boat for the season or to travel to other locations in Central or South America.
Security
Following four yacht security incidents in Linton Bay during October 2018, including an armed robbery of a charter catamaran, the Linton Bay Marina staff, and the Aeronaval have made it clear they intend to initiate nighttime patrols in the area.
However, an armed robbery did occur in July 2019 against a yacht at anchor off the marina and a subsequent armed robbery and attack against a yacht on passage from Linton Bay to the San Blas which overnighted at Bahia Nombre de Dios. See related reports for full details.
Dinghy and outboard theft continue to be reported from here, the most recent thefts in July and August 2021 were from yachts at anchor.
