There is excellent shopping nearby in both Tauranga and Mount Maunganui and over 70 local restaurants to choose from (this is one of the primary summer beach destinations).
Downtown Tauranga has over 100 shops located along primarily along Devonport and Grey Streets including most of the major national stores like Farmers (general department store) and Whitcoul's (bookstores). The Mount also has an active main street shopping district featuring primarily specialty-type shops, cafes and some tourist-oriented stores. Bayfair Mall on Maunganui Road is an American-style multi-store mall with approximately 50 stores.
Items not available in the local stores are readily available from Auckland on next day delivery. Courier service between Auckland and Tauranga is extremely reliable and affordable.
