Description:
Lying about 25nm south of Tangier, this town has an attractive old Medina and is a popular tourist resort, especially in August. Visiting yachts are not common and the people are very friendly.
Since 2023 a major new ports has been under construction here. While construction is on-going, yachts are not permitted to stopover here. Depths are not reliable and entry in anything other than very calm weather, is not advisable.

Asilah is not a Port of Entry! We sailed there in June, arriving just after daybreak. One (Coast Guard?) official came out to the boat as expected. The official asked most of the standard questions about us, and the boat. He took our passports, boat papers, and insurance information. We later visited his office, where we met others associated with the local Coast Guard contingent. All were very nice and accommodating. The ranking official gave us a ride to the local police station to see if we could get our passports stamped. We were denied, both passport entry stamps, and boat entry stamps. We were advised to go to Tangier, which we did.
