Where is Manihiki?

One of the northern Cook Islands, Manihiki is an atoll made up of 40 tiny coral islets, which form a ring around a huge, clear and deep blue lagoon. It is about 1299km from Rarotonga and is one of the most remote, inhabited places on Earth.

The people of Manihiki are divided between the two main islands of Tauhunu and Tukao, which are separated by a 4km deep lagoon. Each island has a tiny school, churches, and stores.

Cruiser Highlights for Manihiki;

Manihiki is the epicentre of the Cook Islands’ pearl industry.    There are no rules here, but attendance at one of the churches is encouraged if you are there on a Sunday.
