Itajai - Docking

Sep 04, 2019

To arrive at the area where it's possible for visiting yachts to berth in Itajai, you have to follow the river for about a mile.

Marina:

Visible a short distance from the river entrance and on the port side in downtown Itajai is a lagoon where Marina Itajai is located. Opened in 2016 the marina has 200 wet berths plus a boatyard with a 75-ton travelift. Mooring is stern-to with mooring buoys and the depth is 4 meters (which can range between 0.5 and 0.9m).

Security: The Marina Itajai has 24-hour security. They monitor the pontoon with cameras. Furthermore, the pontoon is at the back of a large event center and adjacent event grounds. These are fenced off and there is a guard 24/7. At night there is a guard who patrols this large area. The Marinha do Brazil is located next to the pontoon.

Town Dock:

Just beyond the marina on the port side is a pontoon for visiting yachts, between a jetty with a white building at the end and a large concrete jetty with a white tent on it (similar to a circus tent). This basic pontoon is in the middle of town with power and water. Mooring is stern-to with mooring buoys.

Ashore:

All the necessary shops are available within walking distance of berthing facilities: two large supermarkets; department stores, etc. There are good connections by bus to other places in Brazil and it's fairly easy to get to Florianópolis, Blumenau or Iguacu Falls. There is an international airport 10km away.
