Description:
Florianopolis is the capital of the State of Santa Caterina and sits in the middle of the Ilha da Santa Caterina, linked to the mainland by two modern bridges. It is a popular tourist destination.
Entrance Notes and Cautions:
Both the north and south bays between the island and mainland are shallow but can be safely navigated with attention to charts and tidal flows.
The historic bridge linking Florianopolis Island to the mainland is under repair, so only small sailboats can pass underneath. However, the works on the bridge have been delayed as they were calculated to finish at the end of May 2020 before stopping due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
