Wallis Clearance Details

On entering the atoll, hail Port Control Mata Utu on VHF Ch.16 and they will direct you to the anchorage.

General Clearance

For details on Customs and Immigration rules for Wallis, see the Formalities page.

When coming to clear in, yachts can anchor north of the large yellow mooring buoy off the wharf or further out by the eastern islands, about 1.6 kms (one mile) from the wharf. However, if the weather is suitable, it's easier to anchor to the south of the main quayside.

Take your dinghy to the ramp on the SW side of the quay and visit both Customs and Police.

Customs are located on the west side of the building near the dinghy ramp.

Police are located on the left side of the main street RT1 in Aka Aka, 550m North of the hospital. It is a very small sign some distance from the road, easy to miss. Location is 13º 16.447S 176º 10.236W.

Clearance is made from 08.00-16.00, Monday to Friday.

Officials speak some English and are reported to be very friendly and welcoming.

Customs and Police must be visited again on clearing out - even if visiting another island in the group.
