GENERAL CLEARANCE
Anchor close to the Tammalang Pier for clearance (see the Docking section for more detail).
Land your dinghy next to the boat ramp to the left of the Harbormaster’s office (being careful not to block the ramp), tying off to the bushes. Once Immigration is complete, the fastest way to Customs is by dinghy (the pier there has concrete stairs where you can tie up to a wooden pillar). The harbourmaster is again, back down the river.
Clearing In (in the following order):
Clearing Out (in the following order):
The harbormaster will issue a port clearance for onward travel when you clear out, which should be handed to the harbourmaster at your next port of call. All boats going between provinces must make sure they get these clearances (for which there is no fee). If you do not, you run the risk of a heavy fine from the Harbormasters from other ports.
For further detail, see this useful report on clearing into and out of Satun from August 2019.

Koh Lipe
Koh Lipe (in Satun province) is the closest Thai clearance port for yachts coming over from Langkawi, Malaysia. Be careful, however, as the authorities here are not controlled by the head office in Satun and tend to make up their own rules and charges (see Related User Comments for more details).
Yachts can motor up the channel to Satun and check-in there, then go back to Koh Taratoa or to Koh Lipe without having to pay anything additional (as described above).
