Tanga - Health

Tanga Description

Tanga is a small lazy township, 60 km south of the Kenyan border. It is by far the best anchorage on the east coast and many cruisers have dropped anchor here for extended stays.

The town itself is provincial compared to Dar es Salaam, but one can find most essentials in the two supermarkets.

See SV Excelsior's report, Busy Ports and Stunning Anchorages (November 2024) for their experience in Tanga.

Cruiser Highlights in Tanga

Nestling on the southern side of the bay is the Tanga Yacht Club, a relaxed and friendly, family-oriented Club which provides a safe anchorage for yachts all year round. This is a secure place to leave your yacht and head inland for a safari or climb Mount Kilimanjaro.

Position:  05°03'S, 039°07'E (off the town).
