Kolobrzeg - Activities, Attractions & Shopping

Sep 01, 2014

Two centuries of Slavic settlement preceded the establishment of the city of Kolobrzeg in the 9th century. The salt works, historically a major industry, have been mined since the 7th century. Though badly damaged in World War II, Kolobrzeg has been extensively rebuilt and is now a very popular spa town, full of greenery, flowers and attractive parks.

The "New Old Town" has a lot of charm. Some old buildings have survived. Amongst them, clearly visible from the sea is the Basilica of St Mary (1255). It has a beautiful 1.6 km (one mile) long beach and a fine 15th century church which tall learning columns supporting the roof.
