The Gothic Church houses a Maritime Museum. Exhibits include model ships, fishing tackle, and folk arts.
The old fishing boats displayed in the square illustrate the history of the Baltic fishing industry.
Almost the whole of the Hel Peninsula is former military base, not in use anymore. There are many vast fortifications – German and Polish – which you can visit. There you will find a very interesting Museum of Coastal Defence (http://helmuzeum.pl) In August very interesting reenactment event called “The D-Day Hel” takes place.
There is a nice view from Hel lighthouse which is open for visiting from May till September.
